The Team as at Jan 09
January 14, 2009
I am fortunate to live in an environment where quality counts, this is nonetheless apparent with the artisans, craftspeople and local workforce that has built reputations in the midst of a culturally sound community.
A workforce is only able to be employed with the aid of funding more of their CV will appear in due course as both the project commences and Funding is available, only then am I able to start work on individual exhibits proper and to introduce these artists in more depth.
My Mentor
In the choosing of a Mentor I have gone to great lengths to ensure that, not only is he the right man for the role but also someone I am able to work with in keeping with the fact that I know very little as far as the big wide world of art is concerned. My mentor, whom I choose to protect at the moment until such a time as he allows me to drop his name into the arena, is a highly experienced individual at the top of the ladder of the art world as it were.
We have met, he has received my letter of introduction and is keen for another meeting in the near future, until I have discussed the entire project and my future as an artist I am unwilling to use his name.
Glass-work
The centre piece of the exhibit is intended at this time to be a large wall constructed entirely of large cubes of stained glass depicting images that will be visible from an internal and external perspective. The person who is available for my glass-work is an Italian trained stained glass artist with a vast reputation, not only locally but nationally and international having completed several major projects in recent years.
Copper work
I intend somewhere within the overall exhibition to create a piece of which the main visible structure will be composed of copper piping, such a beautiful and malleable material, for this work I shall be working with an artist who, for the same reason as most, has opted for a career that is not art based for purely financial reasons; I have employed him in the past and witnessed a dedication and love for his materials that can only be for the benefit of the final piece.
Stone work.
There will be at least one large stone sculpture which I intend to create myself, my mentor for this is a wonderful artist and sculpture of many years standing and has exhibited both nationally and internationally.
Curator.
My curator is an artist I have known for some years who has been dealing with national and international projects for most of his artistic career, it was he who gave me my first break and set me on the road that has led ultimately to this point.
Film Work
I shall be using a new film company called Dog Tag Productions, they are based in Northern Ireland and will be learning on the job as much as I, they are spirited and keen, to gain a reputation for good works and that is good enough for me, they lack a full compliment of staff at the moment and our needs will fill the gaps as and when the time comes, I have already recognised a need for a competant sound man and have made myself known to him.
Sound Artist
Email contact has been made with a chap called Barry Farrimond a Bristol based composer and sonic artist who has created audio and software for a variety of projects including interactive sonic installations.
For now, this is the team.
